For over seven years, this weekly seminar series, led by Dr. Michael Conforti, has explored the emergence of archetypal material within the clinical setting. These sessions investigate how constellated archetypes manifest in the client-therapist relationship and within the very conditions of treatment.
The Wednesday Noon Clinical Series provides an opportunity to deeply examine unconscious communication, Psyche’s responses to trauma, and the way trauma influences client-therapist dynamics. Participants will gain insights into resistances, "The Migration of Forgotten Contents," and "The Ravages of Denial." Many sessions include verbatims of actual cases, exploring archetypal dynamics as they unfold in the therapeutic process

Important Participation Details:
  • This series is an encouraged supplement to the Clinical Certificate Course for those with less than two years of clinical experience. Sessions are open to clinicians only.
  • Pre-registration is required for each month.

More About the Wednesday Noon Clinical Series

Our ongoing theme for these weekly sessions is Unconscious Communication, Unconscious Experience & Archetypal Enactments in Treatment

It was Elie Wiesel who commented that “With the development of the rational mind, came the capacity to rationalize anything and everything.” So too, during an animated discussion with Robert Langs, he said that he now understood something essential about God and the Devil, in that the Devil was that aspect of the conscious mind which obliterates truth and meaning, while God is the deep unconscious – the objective psyche, which seeks truth and meaning. And then, there is Jung who believed that the most important mandate of life was to have a meaningful life.

These observations speak to the ongoing relationship between consciousness and the creative unconscious. Robert Langs developed a brilliant and far reaching way to understand our relationship to objective truth. His was a lifelong passion for working with the profundity of unconscious communication and the clarity with which the psyche speaks of one’s unconscious experiences. He clearly articulated the differences and relationship between conscious and unconscious perception and developed an approach for listening to the voice of Psyche.

Here again we find the conscious mind moving further and further away from the powerful and often disturbing images emerging from the unconscious and the Self.  However, the reality of Psyche and the meaning of one’s experiences will never be eclipsed, and fortunately is communicated via unconscious communication and the derivatives emerging from the psyche.

In this weekly seminar series we will take an in-depth look at the presence of unconscious communication and unconscious experience. Students will study the seven dimensions of communication developed by Dr. Langs’ more than 50 years of clinical work. So too, will participants learn to discern the psyche’s responses to trauma and other life situations.

This seminar series is taught by Dr. Michael Conforti, a Jungian Analyst, and Founder and Director of the Assisi Institute.  He was a member of the first generation of analysts trained by Robert Langs, and for more than 25 years maintained a deep and abiding friendship.
