Working with Archetypal Patterns and Unconscious Experience
The Therapeutic Process

Summer Intensive Clinical Course (Virtual)

Dr. Michael Conforti, Jungian Analyst

Two Thursdays June 19th and 26th , 2025
11:00 AM- 12:30 PM Eastern Time (NYC)
Two Saturdays June 21st and 28th, 2025
11:00 AM- 2:00 PM Eastern Time (NYC)

While contemporary therapy has all but forgotten its roots in the domain of the sacred, through an exploration of archetypal and unconscious dynamics in our client’s life, we restore the primacy of spirit in therapy and life.

As Jung and von Franz have taught us about the structuring capabilities of Psyche and archetypes, we now realize that the entire therapeutic process is guided by an archetype replete with its own highly specific, innate, and prefigured dynamics.
For more than 40 years, Dr. Michael Conforti has studied these pre-existent dynamics and rituals unique to the archetype of therapy. Building on the work of C.G. Jung, von Franz, Yoram Kaufman, and Robert Langs—both of whom he studied with for more than 30 years—he was immersed in the analytic process. In addition, his investigations into the generation of archetypal patterns and form have brought him into relationship with many of the world’s pioneers in the new sciences of emergence.

The confluence of this work takes us further into the mysteries of the therapeutic process, where the Self continually animates the client–therapist interactional field, which serves as its canvas for the presentation of our clients’ personal and archetypal issues.

This journey of soul into matter finds the actual conditions of treatment, the ground rules of therapy, as a portal for the emergence of archetypal issues. Far from a static collection of rules, they are a vital fabric in this archetypal field, serving as an attractor for the client’s trauma, defense mechanisms, and the emergence of a new psychic order.

During this program, in addition to live supervision of participants’ cases, we will also discuss the theoretical underpinnings of working with archetypal patterns in treatment.

It is through Dr. Conforti’s many years of work on these innate processes—responsible for the emergence of form in the natural world—that we now understand the dynamics emerging within the therapeutic relationship arise from this same archetypal substratum of life.

As we remember the spiritual origins of therapy, the soul once again finds a warm and welcoming home, and together, we begin this journey back to the Self.

We are pleased to offer this seminar as we recognize the profound global influence and reach of Dr. Conforti’s work, now represented in close to 40 countries around the world and valued as a unique approach to treatment.

Specific themes to be addressed in this seminar:
  • The presence of Archetypes in Clinical Practice
  • Self-organization in the Psyche and the Natural World
  • Threshold Experiences: The Beginning of Treatment
  • Initial Conditions , and the conditions of treatment as the necessary emergent dynamics for the re-creation of the clients’ trauma in treatment
  • Unconscious Communication: Unconscious Perception and Unconscious Experience
  • Making interventions and securing the Therapeutic Frame
  • Learning to discern the archetypal issue generating the form emerging in the therapeutic relationship
  • Learning about the nature of our patient’s Compulsion to Repeat and how this is a telling of both their trauma and of the archetypal dynamics affecting their life
  • Dreams as an Objective Commentary on the Therapeutic Process
