Creation myths are…different…from other myths—hero myths or fairy tales…when they are told there is always a certain solemnity that gives them a central importance; they convey a mood which implies that what is said will concern the basic patterns of existence…something more than is contained in other myths. Therefore, creation myths are the deepest and most important of all myths.

We are very fortunate to have Dr Hansueli Etter giving this presentation. Not only is he a world renowned Jungian analyst, but his work is deeply influenced by his long standing relationship with M.L. von Franz. In the spirit of his mentor, his life and analytic work is filled with a passion for spirit and soul, and his gaze is towards the eternal and the sacred and not blinded by the allure of modernity.
Dr Etter’s lecture will help us to understand the archetypal meaning of creation myths and how Psyche creates life and meaning. Here we see beyond the veil, beyond the confines of mechanistic, reductive thinking to see into the heart and soul of Psyche and how Psyche tells its story through images and words. This myth describes the creation of the world and offers a symbolic portrait of the development towards consciousness, where creativity as well as its opposite, destructiveness, are part of this process.
This creation myth by a Kua of the Kalahari, conveys an archetypal story about the process of creativity, a way of life, and a way to the soul, that far too many of us have lost relationship with. Please join us for what promises to be a truly unique event focusing on the significance of creation myths as we continue to study archetypal stories from cultures throughout time.
