The Archetype of the Whistleblower

Throughout Jung's life and work, he spoke of the moral imperative, which calls
us to address actions which  harm others.  In this presentation, Dr. Deb Greenwood,   artist,
consultant and Pattern Analyst,  will present her original and profound work on
the presence and workings of this archetype in modern culture. In particular,  she
will address the  creative  response of Daniel Ellsberg to the atrocities of the Vietnam War, and how yet again, we too are  being  called by this archetype of truth telling.

This is a powerful presentation on a topic  we all  now have to wrestle with, and will help us  understand the patterns of this meaningful archetypal dominant in the individual and collective psyche.

nature of the Catholic Church.    In this interview with Father Bruce Teague, a
leading theologian and Catholic Priest for more than thirty (30) years  we will
discuss the archetypal, and spiritual meaning of the events occuring withn the
church.
In his ongoing work in  understanding and articulating the  patterns
occuring in  our world, as reflections of  psyches movements,   Dr. Conforti
will bring us to yet another level  of understanding of Psyches presence and
effect in individual and collecltive concerns.

He Who Journeys to Hell Also Becomes Hell

C.G. Jung

It was Jung's  encounter with the darker aspects of the Psyche that stirred him to write these words.
Be it an experience of beauty, grace, and transcendence or one of terror and trauma,  one is forever changed
through an encounter with the ineffable.

In this  episode, Dr Conforti will discuss the recent violent tragedy of yet another
of our  "heroes"-  Oscar Pistorius.  This Olympian, and double amputee is revered by many
as as a symbol and expression of the resilience of the human spirit.  But tradegy of yet another form
has  emerged in his life, in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

In this episode, Dr  Conforti will discuss the effects within the psyche of experiences of  trauma
and  how these are  manifested and often dominate the individuals life. So now, another of our wounded ones,
has killed- yet again, like Adam Lanza of NewTown Ct, is accused of murdering yet another  of  the innocents.

This presentation will focus on the  psychic effects of   trauma  and their ongoing manifestations within the individuals life  So too he will speak about  the Patterns of Tragedy and their expression in ones life.

We hope that you will join us for this show, where Dr. Conforti' will draw on his thirty (30) years of clinical experiences in the treatment  of severe trauma.

Psyche Under Seige

In this  presentation, Dr. Conforti will discuss the unconscious, archetypal
issues driving the prolifferation of violence, and the growing trend to want to
defend ourselves against  external threats. Discussing the tragedy of New Town,
Ct, and  the rape and  murder of the young woman in India, we will examine what
it is in our own psyche that we continue to project into the outer world, that
results in an increased sense of collective treat and paranoia. We will also
discuss the moral and ethical issues of  a nation  sanctioning  the use of
assualt weapons for civilian use, and the issue of national culpability.  It is
our lack of understanding of the power of these unconscious forces, coupled with
a refusal to look at the nature of what these contents are, that  drives much of
our behavior.   Please join us for a discussion of these important issues, to
learn  more about how an understanding of our individual and collective patterns
which is essential for creating a safer and better life. Hosted by Dr. Michael
Conforti, Jungian Analyst and  Director of The Assisi Institute

Patterns of the Fall: Lance Armstrong

Elie Wiesel spoke of the hero as that truly unique person who cares more for the spiritual
welfare of their community than for their own needs. So how is it that despite
the perennial wisdom on heroes taught to us by Wiesel, Joseph Campbell, Jung,
and M. L.von Franz, that we persist in bestowing this mantle of importance on
individuals unable to carry this archetypal pattern and mandate on their all too
human shoulders?

Is the saga of Lance Armstrong yet another story of our need to both inflate and
glorify values that in truth are far from heroic? When this happens, both the
individual and the collective are left with disappointments, betrayals and loss
of hope, leaving all involved in terribly compromised positions. In this episode, we will look at the archetypal factors driving Lance Armstrong's fall from grace, and the patterns which reveal the deeper workings of both the individual and the collective unconscious.
