" For a symbol is the intimation of a meaning beyond the level of our present powers of comprehension... Whether a thing is a symbol or not depends chiefly upon the attitude of the observing consciousness; for instance, on whether it regards a given fact not merely as such but also as an expression, for something unknown.”
Carl Jung, 1971 CW
"The unsatisfied yearning of the artist reaches back to the primordial image in the unconscious which is best fitted to compensate the inadequacy and one-sidedness of the present." ("On the Relation of Analytical Psychology to Poetry" [CW 15: §130)
Reorient Your Psyche to Flourish in the Second Half of Life
The creative offers us a way of recalibrating and reorienting our psyche to thrive and flourish in the second half of life. It is in this season that our ability to listen to and engage with the creative unconscious and give it expression in the outer world, becomes a necessity rather than an aesthetic luxury. The creative unconscious, unimpeded by our conscious ego, is able to shine a light into new areas, interests and approaches that can help us develop those areas that were relatively undeveloped in the first half of life. In many ways, this season can give us opportunities for some of the most creatively meaningful experiences of our lives.
